"nest " works by Jesse Morgan Barnett and Michael Mazurek, curated by Anne Lawrence, opens saturday february 19th from 6-9pm!

opening october 23rd!

William Burton Binnie (born: 1985, Dallas, TX) studied studio art and art
history at The Claremont Colleges and received his degree from Pitzer
College in 2008. His work, while wide-ranging in style and subject matter,
often explores themes that are biological, ecological, historical, and
iconographic in nature. Influenced as much by the bold, gritty aesthetics of
punk, hardcore and metal as by more academic styles of art-making, the work
is often marked by a macabre sense of humor and a tongue-in-cheek
overseriousness. It is at once stark, somber, and oftentimes grim, yet rich,
delicate, and lush. The work is often shrouded in a beautiful gloom, where
morbidity, death, and decay are balanced by a vibrant and vital, if
nihilistic, energy. His work was recently featured in the Whitney Museum of
American Art's 2010 Art Party in New York City. This show marks the artist?s
first solo exhibition in his native Texas. He recently relocated from Los
Angeles to Dallas, where he currently lives and works.
